We all know the stereotype Corsa driver: newly passed, boy racer with a need for speed but not quite the engine to match. Like many brands, Vauxhall intend on releasing electric versions of their existing models and the Corsa will be one of the first.
Vauxhall, or Opel as it is known outside the UK, is quite confident about the future of its electric vehicles under the PSA Group. The Vivaro-e delivery van scored big orders (including 1,000 units from British Gas and 270 for Openreach) and the Corsa-e is also building momentum.
According to Vauxhall boss Steve Norman, the Vauxhall Corsa-e might become the top-selling electric car in the UK in 2021. This year, the COVID-19 lockdown weighed too much on the results of the new model. The company have yet to confirm the price point for the model but it is expected to be one of the most affordable EVs on the market so far An Electric Future for Boyracers.
In summary, the Corsa, icon of our roads and one of the most common cars in the UK, looks set to continue its dominance into an electric future. Young drivers may yet be able to race around in their Corsa but will do so in a much more environmentally-friendly manner.
